Special Needs / Extra Care Architectural Services

Imaginative Architecture

KJ Architects specialise in the provision of special needs architectural services, and designing for people with dementia, young dementia, mental health issues and physical disabilities. We’re committed to delivering innovative architecture that helps improve the life quality of our buildings’ occupiers, suggesting imaginative solutions tailored specifically to individual client requirements. We incorporate the use of bright colours and original patterns as and when needed, pay close attention to wall textures and other sensory stimuli, and implement bespoke spatial strategies on a project-by-project basis, giving anyone with learning challenges, or any other disability, the best possible chance of living life to their full potential.

Special Needs Architecture

Our RIBA chartered architects liaise closely with clients prior to our delivery of special needs architecture projects in Newmarket, Essex, Suffolk and other surrounding areas. We host full design and consultancy conferences direct from our practice, in which we identify the bespoke needs of clients, and plan the creation, modification or renovation of a specific building accordingly.

We use computer-aided design (CAD) drawings to give an accurate insight into how the building will look upon completion, also taking health and safety regulations into account, as well as the energy efficiency of the environment.

Care Homes & DDA Compliant Architecture

There are many regulations in place regarding designing living facilities for the physically impaired. When designing special needs projects such as care homes, assisted living residential builds or new builds with disability access, we take into consideration DDA regulations. To do this we carry out DDA consultations to determine what needs to be implemented to make a new build or existing building accommodate for those with disabilities.

It is important to take into consideration the needs for those that need extra care such as residents in care homes. Our unique designs for special needs architecture are dementia friendly and we can help design large commercial projects for care homes or residential assisted living to ensure residents remain independent and looked after at the same time.
